Windows Update error code 80070490

Hello!

Im about to go crazy trying to come throught with a logical and effective solution

Im currently experince error code 80070490 (not 0X80070490, but if it means the same oh well) when Windows update fails

Plus recently is performing very laggy

I already try these solutions:

- Readiness tool, it didnt work!

- the famous "fix it" tool, it dont work

-installation dvd, it only allows me to reset my PC and start ALL OVER AGAIN!

Im looking foward for any solution other than resetting my whole PC or "just get anothert PC", hence i believe that there is another way rather than the obnoxious reseting my PC.

here mis my PC info if it helps

I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP2.

Getting the 80070490 error on Windows update installs.

The following solutions recommended by what have been able to find have not worked:

I have tried Microsoft Readiness tool several time with no success.

I have tried using my Vista system disk with using the UPGRADE option also several time and still no success. The upgrade option is always grayed out.

I have done a new INSTALL 2 different times.  I then run the Windows Update, over and over with each levels reboot. I always get back to the same level and get the 80070490 error on the following 9 updates:

Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB2564958)

Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB970430)

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 for x64 (KB2604094)

Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB2378111)

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 for x64 (KB2686833)

Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB2345886)

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 for x64 (KB2656374)

Security Update for Windows Vista for x6

How do I get past this 80070490 error?
