Windows update error 0x80070643

1. Press Windows + R, type Notepad and click OK;

3. Click the File tab> Save as> Select the desktop;
4. Define the name as Wufix.bat and in the field below under Type select all files;
5. Click save;
6. Right-click on the Wufix file and click Run as administrator;
7. Wait until the end of the procedure on the black screen;
8. Restart the PC and see if the error persists.

If the problem still persists, please try to update using the Microsoft tool.

I was getting Windows update error 0x80070643. It began after installing Microsoft Defender from the Microsoft Store.

I followed Paloma's advice to the letter and even though the whole process took over three hours, it worked!

Three cheers to Paloma for sharing this solution. Hooray! etc.

I tried the batch file and that didn’t work. I then downloaded the .exe file at the link given and it told me that I had already updated to the latest version of Windows 10. The attempt to fix the error was unsuccessful.

I had months of this issue and had no windows defender antivirus engine until I went to settings > recovery > reset this pc and followed the instructions from there. I am only a novice but had tried all the answers from the forums etc and even had Microsoft support downloading Windows 10 twice vis enablement package and ISO files, but wished I had saved myself all this time and reset my pc. Please, if you do try this option, read all the instructions and make your own decision as to what to do.

First option (Notepad Wufix) didn't work for me but second option (link) worked for me. It took a lot of time to download, installing and resetting the computer (5 to 6 hs) but it worked, After that system download more updates.
