Windows Store on a domain machine using a proxy

Hi

Do MS not intend for Windows 10 to be used in a corporate environment?

It took a while to get past the issue of having to be logged in with a Microsoft account not a domain account before being able to 'download' Windows apps from the Store, but I then immediately ran into another issue where I just get a 'Starting download...' message for a while then an error, which in the details gives a code of 0x80072EE2

Microsoft's answer to people encountering this issue includes this:

Method 2: Disable Proxy Settings
Windows Store apps won't work properly if you are using a proxy server. You may disable the proxy server and check.

Follow the below steps.

Press Windows Key + R to open run command, type inetcpl.cpl.

Under Internet Options, go to Connections tab.

Click on the LAN Settings button.

Then uncheck the option Use a proxy server for your LAN.

Click Apply.

All of our corporate machines HAVE to use a proxy server. Unless they do they are not given access to the internet.
How on earth do we get to use Store apps in this environment please?

Eagerly awaiting a helpful response...

Please run the Windows Update troubleshooter and see if it fixes the issue:
1. Select the keyboard shortcut
Win+S.
2. Type “Troubleshooting” without the quotes and press the ENTER key.
3. Click View All.
4. Click System and Security.

5. Right click Windows Update, select Run as an Administrator, click Advanced and, if necessary, check the box before Apply repairs automatically in the next window and click Next.
6. Click the Close button to finish troubleshooting or View detailed information to see more information about the results.

Please provide details of anything not fixed.

Hi Gerry

No, did all of that before finding that info given to someone else having the problem.
Lucky for them it was a home machine & the proxy had been 'accidentally' set.

We have to have it set.
How do we use the Store if we are using a proxy server please?

Still eager... :)

Hi James

No, sorry...

If you do though I'd really appreciate it if you'd drop the solution back here.

Best of luck!

Hi Paul,

My solution was adding some URLs to the proxy bypass list. These are the URLs:

login.live.com;account.live.com;clientconfig.passport.net;wustat.windows.com;*.windowsupdate.com;*.wns.windows.com;*.hotmail.com;*.outlook.com;*.microsoft.com;*.msftncsi.com

I configure my override list via GPP under User Configuration by updating "ProxyOverride" under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings that way everyone in my organization gets this :)

I also had a similar problem with loading and searching online templates within the office applications too, and URL to put in the bypass was *.office.com.

I've got to give credit here, I found the solution on this page:

Hopefully this is a solution for you..

Cheers
