Windows Server 2012 R2 BSOD

Hello,

We have two virtual host servers and one of them this morning restarted without warning (there were no windows updates scheduled nor pending) as a result of it randomly restarting, it took offline 4 virtual servers.

Once the server restarted I got the following message:

I can post the minidumps if required.

I also got this error in the event log.

Critical OS 07/08/2015 08:07 07/08/2015 08:07 1 Operating System failure (Windows bug check, STOP: 0x0000003B (0x00000000C0000005, 0xFFFFF80002269DF7, 0xFFFFD000A5D61F70, 0x0000000000000000))

Can anybody help me this error and what could have caused it as I don’t want it to happen again!

Thanks in advance

George

We do need the actual log files (called a DMP files) as they contain the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

Please follow our instructions for finding and uploading the files we need to help you fix your computer. They can be found here

Both the minidump and the full memory dump are Related to dxgkrnl.sys DirectX Graphics Kernel from Microsoft Corporation.  Completely remove the current video driver and install the newest available will probably fix the issue

If the hardware is HP I would start there as computer makers often tweak drivers to exactly match their hardware's eccentricities.
