Windows Search slow, unable to use Indexing Options

Hi folks! I recently did a system reset on my Windows 10 computer - BSOD problems and what-not - keeping the files intact but creating a new user account. Everything is running wonderfully except for the File Explorer search. I have a suspicion that my files are not indexing. Here's what the symptoms are as well as what I've tried so far to fix it:

Symptoms:

Searching in File Explorer very slow, often doesn’t complete at all. Green status bar over navigation field increases but often results do not appear.

Unable to use “Indexing Options” in Control Panel – displays “Waiting to retrieve indexing status…”. “Modify” and “Save” buttons greyed out, “Advanced” button unresponsive. Remains in this state even when left open overnight.

Attempted fixes:

Ran “sfc /scannow”. No errors

Ran “DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth”. Completed successfully.

Ran “sfc /scannow” again. No errors.

Checked that the Windows Search Service was running. Was set to Automatic (Delayed Start) but was running. Changed to Automatic and rebooted just in case. No fix. Stopped/Started Search Service. No Fix.

Checked for an Indexing Service. Not present in the Services MSC. Assumed Widows 10 replaced Indexing Server with Windows Search.

Checked for Search in Control Panel > Programs & Features > Turn Windows features on or off. Not present.

In C: Properties, unchecked “Allow files on this drive to have contents indexed…” and applied. Rebooted. Rechecked “Allow files on this drive to have contents indexed…”. Rebooted. No fix.

Just in case it was related to an improper program registration, ran "Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}". Completed successfully. No fix.

Ran Error Check on C:. No errors.

Hi Jeremy. This must be very frustrating! Have you tried to run Microsoft's Diagnostic tool that is supposed to find and fix errors in the Windows search service automatically? If not it can be found here
http://aka.ms/diag_search10

And full detailed instructions on using these diagnostic tools can be found here if needed

Forgot to include that in my list. Yes I had, but I just ran it again to be sure. Both times it returned, "Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem."

Well darn that is strange. I will keep looking and let you know if I find anything that might help. Will you also let me know if you find a fix so that it can be shared with others if and when needed?
