Ken.

Hi Ken. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, specializing in Installation, Performance, Troubleshooting and Activation, here to help you.

What browser do you normally read Daily Mail articles in? If these are Mail notifications, what app or browser do you open your Mail in?

Make sure all notification settings in Windows 10 are enabled for the browser you read the Daily Mail in:

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.

No, this is not an e-mail notification. It's the notifications I get that pops up on the lower right of the screen where it says Notifications. I'm using the FireFox browser, but I don't see what difference that makes, unless there's a setting in the browser. But I always thought this is a Windows Notification, and the notifications I get everyday are from the Daily Mail. What do I need to do to fix this?

Ken, it matters which browser for several reasons:

First is to check if Firefox is set as Default Browser in Windows Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Browser.

Also make sure Firefox Notifications are enabled in Windows Notification settings, click on them to see that all Sounds, popups and lock screen notifications are set as you want:

https://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-man...

What happens when you click on the Toast popup? It should also be queued in the Action Center at right end of task bar, or via Windows key + A.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.

I don't know if you understand what I'm saying. The links you sent me are not related to my problem. I've checked everything and I don't see anything wrong. These links only discuss how to turn on or off Notification and block or allow Notifications. It does not discuss anything about why the notification I receive will not open. I am receiving the notifications. The problem I've having is that when I click on a particular article, it does not open the Daily Mail article as it should. I need to find out why it is not opening the Daily Mail article in the browser and what I need to do to fix it. I've looked over everything and there's nothing that is related to my problem.

You said that clicking on links in notifications would not open the article. Where exactly are you clicking on these notification links? Is it when they pop up in the bottom right corner?

I asked in my last post what happens when you click on the notification as it pops up.

Please post a screenshot so I can see what you're seeing. Here's how to take one and attach using Attach Image button in reply box: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/open-snipping-tool-and-take-a-screenshot

Below is a screenshot of the Action Notifications and you can see 3 articles, which are from the Daily Mail. When you click on one of them, it should open the article, and that is how I've always done it. But when I click on any of the articles, it does not open that Daily Mail article. The article link disappears and nothing happens. It should open the article. I can't explain it any better. It has always open the article I click on but now nothing happens after I click on it.

Ken -

What happens when you click on the down arrow or gear icon next to the Notification? Any relevant options to try?

For Windows 10 notifications disappear when clicked on without opening article, there is a thread here that is tracking the issue for two years. There are some solutions suggested I will cover for you.

1) You said that this previously worked? See if you can System Restore to a point before the problem began following this guide: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-system-r...

System Restore is your first line of defense and can take you back to a point before a problem began like a time machine. If it doesn't help then you can undo it. Read about it first in the tutorial above and then try restoring to just before this started.

If the problem repeats or System Restore doesn't work then check which Windows Updates were installed at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Update History, uninstall them there or System Restore again, then immediately check for and block the Updates with the Hide Updates tool explained here which I would install now so it's ready:
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/8280-hide-s...

2) If that doesn't help then try these fixes for Action Center:

https://www.kapilarya.com/fix-action-center-not...

https://www.makeuseof.com/ways-to-fix-windows-1... (All steps but especially Step 3 re-register command)

3) If not then go over Windows using this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

4) If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, by installing Media Creation Tool, open tool and choose to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, is the most stable method to advance to the latest version, and solves most problems. Tutorial here: https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/fix-windows...

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.
