Windows Media Player on Windows 10 can't play VIDEO_TS.IFO files

Does anyone know when Microsoft will create codec to play these files. Currently exists on previous operating systems, but doesn't exist in Windows 10 environment? This is still a widely used format (.ifo/.vob) and Windows 10 has been out for years.

[Moved from: Windows / Windows 10 / Windows settings]

Windows 10 removes a lot of licensed codecs. For most media playback, it is recommended you use a third party application such as VLC Player which is free.

I understand your frustration, for some unknown reason Microsoft basically decided not to support DVD playback in Windows 10. Even the new Film & TV app does not play DVD's

Most users are using the free VLC player to play video files not supported on Windows 10, It is free fully capable and updated regularly . . .

With the VLC player the audio skips during playback, the user has to constantly move the tracking back and forth to hear the complete audio.

The VLC player still has issue with the audio being choppy, can you recommend another player that may work better?
