windows media player and .flv

I have two laptops, I upgraded windows 10 on one of them and it plays .flv files, not problem.  I purchased a laptop with Windows 10 and I cannot play .flv files on windows media player.  I have checked my settings and everything looks the same between the two...  what can I do?

thanks.

Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft community.

1. Do you get any error message?

Windows Media Player cannot play FLV files. You will need a third party FLV player to play these files or you will have to install the latest codecs pack
on your computer.

thank you for the link, but this does not help me.  I have already read the entire library.

Can someone tell me what I need to do to play .flv files?

I keep getting sent to websites that wont to scan my computer and then charge me a fee because they find issues.

This is a new computer, I just took it out of the box.  I have installed all updates.

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Are you able to play other file types using Windows Media Player apart from .flv?
