Hi,

I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the Windows media player from Windows Feature and check if it helps:

Windows Feature

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Turn-Windows-features-on-or-off

In Windows Feature uncheck Media Feature restart the computer and then recheck the Media Feature restart again.

Hope this helps

I am having the same trouble; all media files are on a home server (2011), both of our work stations and the server show double albums.  One album has an "m4a" on it, the other a "wma." I do not want two of everything - what is going on here?

Hi John,

Had to delete all the doubles, took about 2 Hours. Microsoft does not want to know, tried to get help but only if you pay!

As i say, disconected from internet so it could not be updated, deleted all doubles, did a backup, deleted all windows live essentials, (back up windows live mail if using) installed all again then did a restore it worked for me.
