Windows Live Mail not accepting my password

Using Windows Live MAIL, I added my GMAIL account info. When I click to download my folders, I receive this LOGON box to log into the imap.gmail.com server and my password is repeatedly rejected, resulting in receiving a Windows Live Mail popup box saying "The server has rejected your login. Please verify that you user name and password are correct"
I've repeatedly entered my Gmail credentials and keep getting this response.
HELP!!!!!

Google wants you to use their webmail program and does not like your using WLM.   In order to access Gmail using WLM, you must do TWO things:  

Authorize the use of IMAP or POP  https://myaccount.google.com/lesssecureapps?pli=1

"allow less secure apps" 

Also                      ports

pop.gmail.com    995

smtp.gmail.com    587
