Windows explorer freezing after clicking on differetn folder

Every since the 22621.2134 build of window 11 or whatever the latest update was since the 9/08/23, my file explorer has been not working properly.

Every time I open file explorer it boots up normally showing all the normal stuff that the file explorer home shows

However when i go to click on a foldier the program forever buffers and clicking on it will cause it to turn white like when your program is not responding.

The only way to fix this is to restart file explorer (which btw doesn't fix the explorer only just closes the file explorer window)

There is some use ablity though any third party application however right clicking on any file, program, etc will freeze the application in question and refuse to unfreeze until forced to end it's task by the task manager
Even double clicking on folders on the desktop will garner no response or just open a frozen window of the folder that has been selected

Right clicking on a foldier on the desktop will make the desktop completely inresponisve until file explorer is restart [appliactions on the desktop and anything other then folders will work as per usual (even ones that are inaccesable foldiers via the inbuilt run fucntion)]

----------------------

I have tried everything on a old 2019 post (this one) that had a similiar issue and nothing works
The
SFC Scan & DISM came up blank stating no files were corrupted

The built in troubleshooter "found" an error, "repaired" it but file explorer still remain broken

The page yielded no help

and is possibly out of date as this it was an "Windows 10 repair upgrade" option which being a system running a window 11 22h2 wouldn't work

---------------------

So put it to me stright must i have to reinstall windows yet again to fix this issue or wait for a patch from mircosoft

Hi Mr -

I'm Jerico T., I understand that you're having some issues right now, I'll do my best to help you with your concern.

If you suspect that a latest update caused the issue, kindly uninstall the update in the meantime, and wait for the latest update release.

1. Press your Windows key, search for Control Panel.
2. Click on Uninstall a program.
3. Click on the View installed updates on the left side pane.
4. Look for the latest update then right-click on it and click on Uninstall.
5. Restart your computer and check if the issue still persists.

Feel free to reach back if you need any further assistance.

Hope this help. Have a good day.

Thank you,
Jerico T.

It seems the OP doesn't know what fixed it.

Many users have found that clearing out the AutomaticDestinations folder fixes Explorer delays and freeze ups. YMMV. Here are the instructions:

Try clearing the files found here:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations

You can do that using Explorer or via the following command entered in a Cmd window (not PowerShell):

Del C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations\*.*
I don't work for Microsoft. I'm just another user and a developer of some free Windows tools.
