Windows does not detect my headset microphone

I have a "gaming" headset that has a built-in microphone. This microphone works under linux and on my xbox for game chat. However Windows does not detect this device no matter what I try. I have tried the following:

  • Enable device in advanced audio settings.

  • Scan for hardware changes in device management.

  • Restarting/replugging in the headset.

  • Reinstalling Windows

I have all the default privacy settings, the headset does not have custom software and the headset itself it connected via a 3.5mm jack. I attatched an image below that shows it not being detected. Microphone Array is my built-in laptop microphone (it has bad sound pickup)

Your headset mic is COMBINED with the Microphone Array.

Plug in your 3.5mm headset, Realtek Audio Console will ask you "which device did you plug in". Select "headset", that's it. If not prompted, then go to Realtek Audio Console to select headset

Lightly tap your headset mic, the "microphone array" signal meter in your screenshot will jump, thus verifying that you are using your headset mic.
