Windows Defender warning me of multiple Trojan threats each day. Latest is Trojan:win32/skeeyah.A!rfn.

Split from this thread.

Hello JinRyuu,

Since getting rid of Groove Music off my computer I am now getting Windows Defender warnings that I am receiving serious 'Trojan' threats. Up to 10 a day. It says it is removing them but when I check they are still listed and I delete them by hand. There is some evidence that some functions on my computer are behaving strangely. Also occasionally Windows Defender asks me to restart the computer and often that is  an inconvenience.

The Trojan is listed as Trojan:win32/skeeyah.A!rfn

Hello Sumit Dhiman2

Thank you for your reply. I have run the Microsoft Safety Scan this evening and it found no spyware etc., this was the quick scan. Do you think I should do the full scan? Just to keep you up to date I have only had 2 Windows Defender warnings this morning. None since then. This is compared to recent 8 per day.

Thanks for your assistance

I would suggest for a full scan.Have you checked the files which were reported as viruses by defender? Are they removed from there?

Hello Sumit Dhiman2

Thank you again for your reply. I will do a full scan today. So far I have had only 1 warning notice today. You ask if I have checked the files in which viruses are reported and I am not sure I understand what that is. I get a warning and then I go to Windows Defender (history) and there they are listed. I then just delete them. I have tried opening Trojan:win32/skeeyah.A!rfn and I get' access not allowed'

Gratefully yours  M.Cutlan

Hello Sumit Dhiman2,

OK I have run the full scan (4 hrs) and very worryingly while it was running I got 5 alerts from Windows Defender!!!At the end of the scan it reported no problems. What is going on? I have just got 3 more alerts whilst writing this.

Very anxious M.Cutlan

you could try MalwareBytes to get rid of the infection.

If that doesn't work a fresh install of Windows 10 should probably be done.

Hello Sumit,

I got an e mail yesterday from c#s who suggested I scan with Malwarebytes. I am already a customer and I have run a couple of scans with zero result.

I do not understand how Windows Defender can identify and give immediate alerts whilst other sophisticated software fails

I would suggest a fresh Install as it would remove the infections. There is no better way than that remove malware.

If you want a guide on it,I would provide the same.

M.Cutlan

hello guys,

I'm afraid I have the same Trojan as you and it starts getting really crazy. So first I had like 3-5 notice per day from Windows defender this tuesday. i found the files in Local App or Windows folder ( don't remermber) and deleted them by hand cause apparently Defender wasn't able to do so even though it was always saying it is deleting the files and showing their location in folder. Then I've used Microsoft Safety Scaner Full scan (around 26!!! hours) and it showed me 3 Trojans which it deleted....But it seems not true since I've started today to do full scan by Windows Defender and now it is like crazy popping up every 2 min showing that there is a malware and that it is deleting it....At the same time there is nothing to show in the karanteen or in the list of malwares found in the Defender history...I really don't know what to do.

Can you please suggest something? should I go for Norton or AVS or any other antivirus to fight against that Trojan or what?

Thank you very much in advance for any help.

Veronika
