Windows completely Broken

Yesterday, I was playing a game on my computer (PUBG), until it crashed. This quite normal if you the game... As i tried restarting the game, i noticed that all background processes got closed so I decided to restart my PC. After I restartet my PC an error message popped up, that an DLL file is missing (the exact message is visable on a photo, that im going to attach). Missing DLL files is quite a normal problem with Windows, so i closed it and opend random programs like Discord or PUBG to continue playing, until i noticed that I could not open a single .exe file without having the missing DLL file message or another one (photo also attached) that told me that some information could not be read by the RAM. I also got many weird graphical failures on my screen and the system got really slow. (Photo) As I noticed that easy troubleshooting was not possible, because everything ended up with these error popups, I tried booting in safe mode. To speed this up a little: Safe Mode didnt help in any way, but made it even worse because i was not able to leave safe mode anymore. When trying to open anything windows forced me to type in my password. The problem was that it didnt accept my password... Although it was right... (I typed it in when i started up my pc, and already used it many times this day, so it could not be wrong). Bluescreens also appeared sometimes that told me to contact the support with the code: CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED. Today I tried reinstalling Windows via a Bootable USB stick I created with the Tool from Microsoft. The files must have been damaged because when I tried to boot into windows after installing it successfully, it says that the installation got interrupted, even though it rebootet by itself. I borrowed someones Windows installation CD/DVD he got in the package of a new notebook. After fixing problems with the drive i tried to install windows on (Samsung 960 Evo M.2 SSD 1Tb), that costed plenty of hours, I was able to boot into windows. (I had to skip the Error messages via CMD that told me that installing windows with my hardware is not possible). Now as i was finally able to see windows back again, the first message I got was the same Error message that the DLL file was missing (i dont know if it is the exact same, because the file name is so long). So opening up any .exe files was still not possible. Still thr problem that the ram could not read some files. To describe the version of windows: It is completely naked. When pressing Windows Key, we normally see a list of installed apps, but this list is actually empty...

A list of what I tried so far:

-Reinstalling Windows -> Same Errors

-remove any other Disks and even format them -> only made me able to install windows in any way

-remove any USB devices ecept of my keyboard and mouse.

-check for missing DLL files with sfc (or however its called) /scannow -> proccess stops after 26% or 50%...

-running the Windows Ram Diagnose Tool -> no problem found

After trying these  many things And rebooting a thousand times the PC just stopped rebooting. After a while, I noticed that my EZ DEBUG LED on my mainboard flashed at „CPU“ (only sometimes) and „DRAM“(perma.), (system in overclocked). I removed the CMOS battery and let it drain, put it back inside, rebooted and it „worked again“. That means that the monitor is showing „something“. After a while I created a new bootable USB device with the Microsoft tool again, and installed windows. Now, windows doesnt boot anymore, but says that the installation progress got interruped again.

For me, it cant be a software problem

Hi Phil. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

I will give you steps to access the Repair Mode to try all repairs to get Windows started, and if not to do the automated Reset or the superior Clean Install after rescuing your files. These steps don't cover possible hardware failure which might become apparent while performing the steps, so please report back as you go:

1) Use whichever method works in this link to access Advanced Startup Options: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanc.... Easiest may be to restart PC three times to trigger the Startup Options.

2) If none of the other methods work it may be necessary to Create Windows 10 Installation Media on another PC: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

Insert media, boot it by powering up PC while pressing the BIOS Boot Menu Key: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutor...

Choose the boot device as a UEFI device if offered, then on second screen choose Repair Your Computer. If the media won't boot you may need to enter BIOS/UEFI Setup (pressing key given in chart in link above) to turn off Fast Boot or Fast Startup first.

3) In the Advanced Troubleshooting options try to System Restore to a point before the problems began, Startup Repair, then if necessary from Startup Settings try to get into Safe Mode with Networking, or lastly Safe Mode.

If Startup Settings aren't available you can force Safe Mode from Command Prompt using the command to unhide F8 Advanced Startup Options here: https://www.digitalcitizen.life/4-ways-boot-saf.... Try Last Known Good Configuration and then Safe Mode with Networking.

4) From Safe Mode w/Networking work through the Windows 10 Install Integrity Checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get donehttp://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows_10-performance/windows-10-performance-and-install-integrity/75529fd4-fac7-4653-893a-dd8cd4b4db00: If it doesn’t fix Windows enough to start it normally, then try a Windows 10 Refresh: https://www.howtogeek.com/265054/how-to-easily-...

Update your drivers from the PC's Support Downloads web page. Compare the latest drivers with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Make sure you have the latest BIOS, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

5) If Safe Mode doesn’t work or help stabilize things then return to Advanced Troubleshoot options. Next try Command Prompt to run through Windows 10 Install Integrity Checklist (above link) repair commands including sfc /scannow, DISM, a full Disk Check, or return to Troubleshoot options to Reset Your Windows 10 PC.

6) Better yet do the vastly superior Clean Install Windows 10 following the steps in this link to delete all partitions down to Unallocated Space to get it cleanest: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

7) There is a step to Rescue Files from the booted media Command Prompt first: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

These steps are excerpted from my tutorial that compiles everything possible for Troubleshooting Windows 10 Failure to Start: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki.... You can continue with the other steps there.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Phil, let's focus on the reinstall then because that should have solved it.

Follow the illustrated Clean Install steps in this tutorial which compiles the best possible install that will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Make sure all other drives and peripherals are unplugged. Update the BIOS or UEFI firmware to latest, or reset to Defaults, making sure SATA controller is set to AHCI.

To create Windows 10 Installation Media on another PC install Media Creation Tool and follow the directions here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m.... Uncheck the box for Recommended Settings to choose the exact version and bit rate for the target PC only.

Insert media, boot it by powering up PC while pressing the BIOS Boot Menu Key: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutor...

If the media won't boot you may need to enter BIOS/UEFI Setup (pressing key given in chart in link above) to turn off Fast Boot or Fast Startup first.

Choose the boot device as a UEFI device if offered, on first screen press Shift + F10 to open a Command Prompt, type the following commands followed by Enter key:
DISKPART
LIST DISK
SEL DIS # (replace # with the disk # of the Windows disk from list in previous command)
CLEAN
EXIT

Close Command Box, on second screen choose Install Now, then Custom Install, then at the drive selection screen choose Unallocated Space, click Next to let it create needed partitions and start install - this makes it foolproof.

You will get and keep the best possible install to the exact extent you stick with the steps, tools and methods in the linked tutorial. It's a better install than any amount of money could buy and a great learning experience that will make you the master of your PC.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Ok, I updated my BIOS to the latest version and reinstalled windows step by step just as you told me to do it. When the installations has finished and the computer restarts by itself I get the following message: „Windows could not complete the installation. To install windows on this computer, restart the installation“.

Phil, did you create the latest bootable media using Media Creation Tool only? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

This is necessary to rule out the borrowed older version media as the culprit since it is highly likely if you did everything else given.
