Windows Assigned Access gets stuck at bluescreen.

Hello

A costumer of mine recently asked me if there was a way to set up a couple of kiosk systems for his hotel so his residents could surf the web in the lobby. I did some research and stumbled upon the Assigned Access mode. First of all, I didn't find Microsoft Edge within the options. I called support, who just threw me around from agent to agent (probably because they wouldn't admit they didn't know), to then just frankly cut me off. By listening to them I clearly found they had no clue what so ever what I was talking about. Please fix your tech support in Belgium, Microsoft.

I finally found how to include Edge to the option myself.

But there is another issue. Whenever I start the system with the profile that is restricted by the kiosk mode, it gets stuck at a bluescreen. I found that I have to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to enter the profile succesfully. This isn't really a big issue. Once you know what to do.

But I presume that the customers at the hotel won't know what to do once there is a bluescreen sitting there.

Is there a way to solve this?

Regards

Hi Kozmik. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Is it a Blue Screen crash, or just the lock screen, suggested by needing to Ctrl Alt Del to get past it?

See if this helps to bypass lock screen: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/disable-lock-scr...

Also see this Microsoft tutorial document on how to set up a Kiosk: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/config...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Hi, Greg. Thanks for the quick answer!

It's not really a crash screen. I guess it's indeed the lock screen.

The thing is that I must log in twice. First, I see the lock screen, then I press enter the get to the profile. Blue screen.

I press Crtl+Alt+Del, get back to the lock screen, press enter again and only then I can access the kiosk profile.

I tried the settings provided in your link. Now I can't get in at all. When I press enter, the log in-button dissappears and re-appears every time.

Are you able to get to the blue lock screen again? If not see if you can System Restore from the Advanced Startup Options accessed by one of these methods:

I was able to turn off the options using the admin account since that one wasn't blocked. Still have the screen, though.
