Windows activation error code 0x800705b4

Windows 10 pro reporting not activated error code 

if i clean install it activates ok, but the image i saved and restored refuses to activate....tried all troubleshooting ideas i could find even an in place upgrade has the same problem, only a clean install  activates, need to fix this to save reinstalling everything thanks

Hi Red

Open the Settings App (Gear icon on your Starr Menu)

Go to Update and Security - Activation

Click Change Product key

Enter this generic product key: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T

When prompted, click 'Activate Product'

If the above does not work first time, temporarily disconnect from the Internet and click 'Activate' again . ..

(Note the generic key will activate the Pro edition, then your own legal licence will activate automatically after a restart)

tried but still get activation fail error 0x800705B4

read its to do with update and or defender issues......can i reinstall repair defender ?

Hello

i did find this previously, but one of these commands failed to work, so couldnt proceed

  • net stop bits
  • net stop wuauserv
  • net stop appidsvc
  • net stop cryptsvc.

but now i have a good key and an activated w10pro thanks to a key bought on ebay for £1.79
