Windows Account Password.

I cannot retrieve the password to my computer's Windows account. I've tried creating a password reset key, it doesn't work. Like, there's nothing that shows up on screen to indicate that anything is happening and when checking the USB myself, it is indeed empty. I've tried changing the password associated with my Microsoft account but that doesn't seem to do anything. I don't know what else to do. Assistance would be appreciated.

Hi Mello Man,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I can understand your confusion.

Based on the information you provide and my understanding.

You seem to be trying to create a password reset disk?

You mentioned "cannot retrieve the password to my computer's Windows account.".

Does it mean a local account?

Password reset disk is for local accounts, not Microsoft accounts.

Microsoft account information is not explicitly associated with this feature.

For your situation, you may need to consider implementing In-place Upgrade or Clean Install.

  • To fix possible system errors.

  • Or install a brand-new system to configure a new local account.

Before providing the method, I think I need to confirm your wishes to avoid inducing more problems after performing that operation.

Besides, you can try Safe Mode to see if you can enable the Built-in Administrator.

Looking forward to your response.

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.
