Windows 8 Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant Error on Startup

Hi,

When I boot up my computer and use the desktop function I get the error that the 'Microsoft Account Sign-in Account' did not work and therefore cannot sign into a local account or to words of that effect, even though it is linked with my Microsoft Account. It tells me that because I am a system administrator that I can view the event log, find the issue and fix it, the log says the following "The Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion". There is a link on the description that takes me to 'help' which is a Microsoft TechNet link which is an Error 404.

Please could you tell me how to fix this?

Thanks

Hi,

There is a easier way to resolve the problem.

Go to Manage, then services and go to Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant.

Double click on MASA and change startup type to automatic, then restart the pc.

That's it, you should get the error any longer.

Thanks
