windows 7 update error 80070005

I know that I had encountered some kind of malicious software on my PC, and I have done a restore that helped fix many of the issues, but the one problem I cannot get past is the inability to run Windows Update. I receive this error:

Windows could not search for new updates. "WindowsUpdate_80070005" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"

Windows encountered an unknown error.

This is a report as per accesschk.eve

"Error opening HKLM\software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing:
Access is denied.

No matching objects found."

I have run so far:

1.   MicrosoftFixit.malware.Run

2.   MicrosoftFixit.WindowsFirewall.Run

3.   MicrosoftFixit.WinSecurity.Run

4.   MicrosoftFixit.wu.Run

5.   mbam-setup-1.51.2.1300

6.   fix.cmd

7.   WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86

8.   subinacl.msi

I am hoping to find the registry key that blocks me from accessing the "system32" folder, which seems to be the key issue.

Thank you,

Dave
