Windows 7 says I need a driver for MBox 2 Mini simultaneously it tells me there is no driver for my Device. Can any musicians/engineers help?

Error code 28  tells me I need a driver. After searching my device driver software in the D drive, and the internet, none is found. Additionally, the device manufacturer and other pertinent info that would aid a search is not listed in the properties section of the device info. in Windows.

1. If there is no driver for this device, how do I get it to work? When plugged in through the USB port on my computer where it used to work with Pro Tools LE 8 software, it does not power up.

2. I could not find a driver on the Avid website, but downloaded the firmware updater. If there is a driver, how do I download it from my D drive (CD with drivers for upgraded software), or edit the properties section to include the manufacturer, serial number, etc, to search the internet in order to locate and download it from there, or find another way to turn the device on? The device is an MBox 2 Mini manufactured by Avid, formerly Digidesign, and the software is Pro Tools 9. All compatible with Dell Studio XPS, 64, Windows 7?

Thanks very much for your help!

Answer

Hi,

From the information I have found on the internet, MBox 2 mini needs the drivers (known as ASIO) to work.  These drivers are installed by default when installing Pro Tools.  However if you do not have Pro tools installed then you can get the standalone ASIO drivers at:

 Hope it helps.
