Windows 7 constant blue screen error. Computer restarts automatically every few hours and says it has recovered from a critical error.

The Event log lists the following:

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x0000000a (0xfffff8800c254ff8, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000001, 0xfffff80002fff02e). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 120809-28579-01.

Can anyone help with this? I would be eternally grateful as it is rather annoying seeing my brand new homebuilt PC randomly crash every now and then!

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Windows 7 Community.  Try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.  Do recall any changes to your system prior to the issue, such as new software or hardware added?  Please try the troubleshooting steps below:

This article discusses how to boot to Windows Advanced Options menu.

1. Disconnect all external devices (printers, USB hubs, USB drives, etc...) and then boot up.

If this corrects the issue then add the devices back one at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue.  Then get any updated drivers\software for the device.

2. Use the ”Last known good configuration” from the Windows Advanced Options menu. 

If this option resolves the issue then look for any updates or software installs that may have caused the problem.

3. Boot to Safe Mode from the Windows Advanced Options menu.

If you can get into Safe Mode then the issue could be driver or software related. 

From within Safe Mode run a System Restore.  This article gives instruction on the System Restore process.

4. Perform a chkdsk /r at a command prompt. If prompted select yes to schedule the check disk at your next startup and restart your computer.
