Windows 7 64 bit: Error: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\l1e62x64.sys

Well, an error that it's haunting me from when I passed from Xp to 7 a couple of months ago.

According to Whocrashed;

On Sat 14/06/2014 17:53:49 GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\061414-19890-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: l1e62x64.sys (0xFFFFF88003C3F8DC)
Bugcheck code: 0xD1 (0xA0, 0x2, 0x0, 0xFFFFF88003C3F8DC)
Error: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\l1e62x64.sys
product: Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E Ethernet Controller(NDIS6.20)
company: Atheros Communications, Inc.
description: Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E Ethernet Controller(NDIS6.20)
Bug check description: This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory at a process IRQL that was too high.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: l1e62x64.sys (Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E Ethernet Controller(NDIS6.20), Atheros Communications, Inc.).
Google query: Atheros Communications, Inc. DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I've already updated all the drivers of network card but randomly it crashed with blue screen, the last blue screen gave this mistake:

L1E62x64.sys    L1E62x64.sys+78dc    fffff880`03c38000    fffff880`03c4a000    0x00012000    0x4bb00bac    29/03/2010 04:08:44

Hello Young,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community Forum and I must appreciate you for providing us so detailed information of your issue.

This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory at a process IRQL that was too high.

A driver tried to access an address that is pageable (or that is completely invalid) while the IRQL was too high. This bug check is usually caused by drivers that have used improper addresses.

Try the below mentioned methods and check if it helps.

Method 1

Step 1:

Disconnect all the external devices connected to your computer except mouse and keyboard and check if it helps.

Step2:

Try to run the hotfix provided in the following link and check if it helps.

"0x000000D1 DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" Stop error on a Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1-based computer

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2851149/en-us

Step 3:

Check the issue in Disable automatic restart on system failure and check if you are getting any error message.

Refer to the link below on instructions to get In Disable automatic restart on system failure:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

Method 2

Step 1

If issue persists I would suggest you to enable low resolution mode and check if the issue is with graphic card driver.

Refer to the below link for information on how to enable low resolution mode:

Change your screen resolution

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Change-your-screen-resolution

Step 2

If you are still facing the issue, then boot the computer in safe mode and check again.

Start your computer in safe mode:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Method 3

If issue still persists I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if it works for you.

Resolving stop (blue screen) errors in Windows 7

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/resolving-stop-blue-screen-errors-in-windows-7

Important:

While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found on the hard drive when chkdsk tries to repair that sector if any data available on that might be lost.

Note:

I highly recommend backing up all of your important files and folders onto an external storage device before attempting any type of OS repair or upgrade.

System Restore disclaimer:

When you use System Restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you installed are removed.

Note: Ignore the step Reinstall Windows 7 from the above link.

Hope this would help. If issue still persists post back with current status of your computer and result of proposed suggestion, we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you.

Ramesh Kumar.

Thanks for your detailed answer. I'll try to download the hotfix (when the site will let me it) and I'll let you know. The third step of the first method is for disable the automatic restart when you've a blue-screen, right? But with whocrashed or similar software is it not almost useless?

Please post copies of your dump files as shared files (excluding any more than one month old) to your OneDrive with a link here.

The dump file will be created at c:\windows\minidump. You may need to change your settings in Windows to be able to see the file. To show hidden files type Folder Options in the search box above the Start button and select View, Advanced Settings and verify that the box before "Show hidden files and folders" is checked and "Hide protected operating system files" is unchecked. You may need to scroll down to see the second item. You should also make certain that the box before "Hide extensions for known file types" is not checked.

What is your computer make and model? If not a branded computer what is your motherboard make and model?

Please download and run Driver View and upload a copy of the report it produces to your OneDrive. To get a report on all drivers select Edit, Select All followed by File, Save Selected Items.
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/driverview.html

Please provide a copy of your System Information file. Type System Information in the Search Box above the start Button and press the ENTER key (alternative is Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information). Select File, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Do not place the cursor within the body of the report before exporting the file. The system creates a new System Information file each time system information is accessed. You need to allow a minute or two for the file to be fully populated before exporting a copy. Please upload to your OneDrive, share with everyone and post a link here. Please say if the report has been obtained in safe mode. The request for a copy of this file is additional to answering the question about make and model.

Hi, here you've the One Drive link https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=E581546D5C05FA50!287&authkey=!AALI3DUPW3jJmi4&ithint=folder%2c.txt with (I hope) all the infos requested.

The PC is a assembled one with a Asus P5QPL-AM motherboard. In the One Drive files there is only 1 dump file 'cos the blue screen appeared only once in the last 30 days.

Thanks so much for your efforts!!!!

Please check again and try not: I've uploaded a new file.

Anyway, using Driver Verifier from CMD, I've corrected 2 mistakes that gave blue screens: one linked to Power Dvd 7.3 and one linked to a driver of UPS... Could one of this make a conflict with Atheros?

Ok I've tried by myself: uninstalled Power DVD 7.0 and UPS driver, it seems (still Windows Verifier working) now it's Ok. Maybe the Power DVD driver caused a conflict with network card driver.
