windows 11 with LG ultrawide monitor

I recently updated to Windows 11. I have a LG 34 inch ultrawide monitor (21:9 aspect ratio, 2560x1080 resolution). Windows 11 selects the generic Pnp monitor driver, which has a max 1920x1080 resolution, so the screen is fuzzy and stretched out - really unusable. LG does not have an updated driver, Windows 11 has all updates installed has no updates available related to this driver and it will only select this as the recommended resolution.

Is there no support for 2560x1080 HDMI monitors in windows 11?

Hi James,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Open Device Manager, then expand the Monitors group

Right click the Generic PhP monitor and select Properties

On the Drivers Tab, click Update Driver, then choose 'Browse My Computer for Drivers' and then, Let me pick from a list....'

Untick the option to show compatible drivers, then scroll down to find the LG drivers

Do you find your model No. listed there?

Hi Dave I tried this method for my Samsung UN40ku6290 and could not find model listed. now what? Should I not be running NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 for my main card? I switched it to that and Windows 11 at the same time and all my colors are horrible and windows seems to run all twitchy and slower?

Thank you, Condor

I have a 16:9 22" monitor 1920x1080 and I think it looks pretty bad compared to Windows 10. I have tried different hdmi cables and adjusting monitor settings to no avail. I would think at 100% scale it would look much better than it does. I might just go back to Windows 10.

I managed to fix the issue by disabling Image Scaling in my Nvidia 3D settings

Good luck with going back. I have spent 2 days trying to get my unsupported LG 2560x1080 to work with Windows 11. The chat even entered my computer without success. Going back is no longer available after 10 days. Until LG updates their graphic driver to work with Windows 11 we're hooped. I wish I hadn't moved forward and had stayed with 10.

Same problem here with LG 29UM69G on Windows 11, all updates installed.

Installed the driver from LG website successfully, still no support for ultrawide resolutions.

It is clear that this issue isn't exclusive of a few users. Also, as an experienced user, I doubt this is a LG driver problem (Windows 10 worked 2560x1080 without installing driver). Nobody from Microsoft can help with this ?
