Windows 11, version 24H2 -- How to determine build?

I'm being prompted to restart my desktop to install V. 24H2. I've read the horror stories about 24H2 and therefore avoided this for a while until cumulative updates cured the problems.

I can't tell from Windows Update exactly what update wants to install, so I don't know if it includes any cumulative updates. All the screen shows is "Windows 11, version 24H2 Pending restart."

Is there any way to tell if I'll be getting any cumulative updates with that installation, or will it be the problem-ridden version?

Thanks.

Hello ! I'm Aymeric, an independent advisor, and I'm here to help !

According to Microsoft Learn documentation (available here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/relea...), the latest version of Windows 11 available via Windows Update is the "26100.2605".
After installation, Windows Update will run in the background to install any cumulative updates that may not yet have been installed.
If you prefer, you can use the Windows 11 Installation Wizard, which will automatically download the latest version and the updates that go with it.

Please let me know if you have any other questions !

If I use the Installation Wizard, will I be downloading the latest version the INCLUDES the updates that go with it?

I'm wary of installing--even for a few minutes--the initial version of 24H2, even as a stepping stone to receiving updates to that initial version. I've heard horror stories about that initial version, and I don't want to risk facing a BSOD or an infinite boot loop. I want to leapfrog over the problematic version to a stable one.

Thanks.
