Windows 11 upgrade threshold not met.

I run a very high spec (for its time) Dell XPS which I want to continue using - i7 7700hq, 32Gb ram, gtx 1050, 1 tb pcie and 4k touch. TPM is there - "TPM is ready for use" and is shown on my machine as NTC manufacturer version 1.3.2.8 specification version 2.0. Microsofts own TPM 2 guidance states "Security processor, select that and verify that your Specification version is 2.0. If it is less than 2.0, your device does not meet the Windows 11 requirements.".

So why can't I update??

Thanks

Hi Mike,
I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

Apologies for any inconvenience you are experiencing. I am happy to help you today.

I am afraid Intel 77HQ is not on the list. Anything above 8th generation is supported.

Dave's answer here explains more:

Microsoft were testing and adding some more processors, and did add some to the list, they indicate they have now completed testing, and no more processors will be added to the official list.

It is possible to install Windows 11 on an unsupported processor using the Windows 11 ISO and select the upgrade option, I have Windows 11 installed on an unsupported Core i7 7700HQ processor and Windows 11 runs very smoothly, however Microsoft advise you do not do that, they will not be liable for any problems caused by doing that and also you would not receive Windows 11 updates, however, everyone that has installed Windows 11 on an unsupported processor is still receiving updates.

Microsoft provide the required registry edit on this link.

Thank you all. I am particularly disappointed that Microsoft chose not to include systems that clearly meet the requirements as a sustainability option. This is still a thoroughly usable laptop and stacks up well against a newer version as i don't run any video or gaming tasks. I wonder how AMD chipsets are treated?

Thanks for the reply, Mike. I wish I had some good news for you. Microsoft claims 77HQ does not have some specific instruction sets making it ineligible. The names of it are Virtualization-based Security (VBS) and Hypervisor-Protected Code Integrity (HVCI),

On the AMD side, grass isn't green either.
