Windows 11 S Mode saying "Your version of windows 11 has reached the end of service."

I just got a brand-new laptop and got it set up with all of the required Windows updates. It is a Lenovo laptop with Windows 11 Home in S mode, version 22H2. The windows update section now says "Get the newer version of Windows to stay up to date. Your version of Windows has reached the end of service." When I check for updates, there is nothing left to update or install.

I literally JUST bought this and set it up, how can it possibly be at the end of service with Windows 11? This is a 2024 model laptop. Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, or the manufacturer didn't use an updated iso to begin with. That happens.

Unfortunately you will not be able to switch out of S mode once you switch out of it.

To be completely honest with you, S mode is a nuisance. It is not allowing you to download anything outside of the store app. So if you need to run an installer for a printer driver, or install OEM driver directly if you ever need to, it will not allow you. It is ideal for computers used by kids or senior who are not tech savvy at all, as such restriction can prevent them from downloading something bad.

Once you switch out of S mode, and if you want to restrict yourself to download from store app only, you can go to Settings > Apps > Advanced App Settings. For "Choose where to get apps", set to the store app option. This way it will do what S mode does, except in S mode, you will not see this settings option at all to even switch out.

Hello,

This model must have sat around for a while before it was sold to you, because V22H2 ended Oct 2024. When a version reached the end of life, it means update will no longer be possible via Windows settings. You will have to use the Windows installation assistant to try to bring it up to date.

However, because you are in S mode, you will need to switch out of S mode in order to run this.

Here is instruction how to switch out:

Here is the link to the installation assistant: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...
