Windows 11 Pro successfully added work account using Entra ID, but now does not recognize password to login to work account. Please help

Using Windows 11 Pro I successfully added work account using Entra ID. It shows up in "Other users" as Work account with Azure AD. I can see this by logging into separate microsoft user account set up as administrator account on same laptop.

However, if I log out and try to log back in to work account using email and password, I get "incorrect password". I've tried with 2 separate work accounts, both connected and show up in accounts as Azure AD, but will not accept password on login. I am 100% positive using correct password.

I checked Microsoft Entra through Microsoft 365 business administrator account and it shows laptop is connected with the work email login account I used.

I am not sure why Windows is not accepting my password to login to laptop.

Please help. Thank you.

Hello Joe needs help please, welcome to Microsoft Community!

Based on your feedback, you are experiencing an issue where Windows 11 Professional has successfully added a work account using Entra ID, but is now unable to recognize the password to log in to the work account!

If you are the only global administrator for this account and are completely blocked, you can contact our support team. You can check the following article for a support number, depending on your country.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/global-customer-service-phone-numbers-c0389ade-5640-e588-8b0e-28de8afeb3f2

Or create a work order through another account:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/get-help-support?view=o365-worldwide#phone-support

When creating a ticket with the Microsoft Support team. Provide them with the tenant ID that is locked in the description. tell them that no administrator account has access anymore and that your partner no longer has access.

After creating a work order with the support team. you must work with our data protection team. For security reasons, you must first prove your identity to the tenant. Posting this team will help you access the tenant or unlock the account, depending on your scenario.

Additionally, in the future, it will be possible to create an Emergency Access Account (Break the Glass) in Azure AD. This account helps prevent accidental lockouts from the Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) organization if you are unable to log in for any reason.

We hope you find the above information helpful
