Windows 11 Pictures icon changed to Videos

I started having problems in Elements tagging and went to verify my files. I had Pictures previously at G:\Pictures and all my photos were there. Now the icon says Videos and the files are still all there. I can't change it back to Pictures. Since the file structure didn't change adobe elements can still find the pictures. How did this happen. I have the lastest update. Under Videos Properties the Previous Versions all show Pictures.. How do I fix this?

Hey! It sounds like the issue might be linked to how the files are set to open. Here’s a quick fix you can try:

1. Right-click on any picture file in the folder, like a .jpg or .png file, and select Properties.

2. Under the General tab, look for Opens with and click Change.

3. Choose Photos (or your preferred app for opening pictures) and click OK.

This should reset the default app to Photos, which might help Windows recognize the folder’s contents more accurately. Let me know if this works for you!

Hi Robert, This is Ramesh.

Please open a Command Prompt window and run the following command:

del G:\Pictures\desktop.ini /a

Press Enter.

Log off and log back into the account.

Does that fix the icon and caption of that folder?
