Windows 11 PC won't recognize my iPhone 15 connected to my computer

Hello all, I just recently got a new Windows 11 PC (this specifically was working on my old laptop) and I was trying to back up my iPhone with iTunes but my phone isn't getting recognized by my computer at all. I've tried 3 different cables and a couple of different USB ports but I've still had the same luck and I won't get the "trust this computer" screen. I have an iPhone 15, and I've only tried a USB to USB-C cable as my PC doesn't have a USB-C port. Is there any possible fix for this?

Thank you.

The outdated version of Bios could be the cause of the problem. There is a new version of Bios (1641) on the Asus website to "Improve system compatibility and performance" released on 2024/02/23. Downloading and installing the latest version of Bios from this link should fix this problem.

Then you can use the Intel Driver & Support Assistant from this link to make sure you are using the latest version of the Chipset driver.

Hi,

Thank you for the response! However, even after I updated my BIOS and installed the latest version of the Chipset driver, the problem is still persisting. Are there any other solutions that you may know of?

Thank you!

Is your iPhone recognized on Device Manager?

1-Right-click on Start then click on Device Manager
2-Connect your iPhone to your computer
3-Check if it is recognized under "Portable devices"
4-If is recognized, right-click on that and click on properties. Then check in the "Device Status" to see if there is any error code
5-If is recognized and doesn't have any error code, right-click on that and select "Update driver" then click to update the driver using the Windows Update

If the problem persists, here are other troubleshooting that you can try to fix this problem.

Solution 1: Reset the trusted devices on your iPhone
1-Go to Settings, then tap General.
2-Tap Transfer or Reset [Device].
3-Tap Reset, then tap Reset Location & Privacy.
4-Disconnect and reconnect your iPhone and check if the "Trust device" message is shown

Solution 2: If you have any third-party antivirus temporarily and then reconnect your iPhone

Solution 3: Check if you have the latest version of iTunes
1-Open iTunes
2- Go to Choose Help > Check for Updates

Solution 4: If you have installed iTunes through Microsoft Store, you can use this procedure to update
1-Open the Microsoft Store
2-Click on Library
3-Click on "Get Updates" then click on "Install updates"

Solution 5: Restart your iPhone and then reconnect it to your computer. You can see how to do it at this link.
https://support.apple.com/en-us/118259

Solution 6: Check if there are any pending updates to your iPhone. You can see how to do it at this link.
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204204

If all these procedures above fail and the problem persists, you will need to contact Apple support, they will be able to help you identify what is causing the problem and guide you on how to fix it. You can see at this link how to contact Apple support.

Hi there. I was having the same problem, but I realized I might have plugged my phone into my computer before and hit Don't Allow, so it stopped from showing my phone on my Windows 11 computer. You can try this and see if it worked for you, as it did for me.

1. Unplug your phone from the computer

2. Uninstall all Apple applications, including Bonjour

3. Plug your phone back in

4. Click Allow to view photos, and Trust

5. Open File Explorer and you should see your folder now.

The REAL problem is that Apple pulled the plug on iTunes and hasn't gotten the word out! What is the matter with Apple? I've struggled with iTunes for YEARS. Today, as I was struggling with the issue raised here, I came across a post on another website disclosing the fact that Apple has discontinued support for iTunes. I opened iTunes, and Devices was grayed out in the File menu. That was the first clue. After updating iTunes, the Devices selection was missing altogether! No way to connect to my iPhone via iTunes.

Apple wants everyone to switch to AppleTV, AppleMusic and to ditch iTunes.

I think this may be an issue with itunes not being authorized for your apple account. From itunes go to Account > Authorizations > Authorize this computer. Once Authorized see if your iphone is recognized.

It's also worth noting that Apple Music in the Microsoft Store is the itunes replacement.

Apple and Microsoft are such garbage. I have the same problem... never had this before. Tried multiple different cables and USB ports, tried my daughters iphone and ipad... nothing. The phone charges but does not register in the device manager or in file explorer. Sometimes the PC makes a noise as if it recognizes the iphone connected, only to make another noise a second later to signal it has disconnected. I also do not get the "trust this computer?" notice on my iPhone. I Have spent 4 hours this morning going through every troubleshooting step on this forum and on youtube. No results. SO FRUSTRATING
