Windows 11 Microphone not working

when I upgraded to Windows 11, my microphone access to all of my apps was blocked. Upon checking the privacy settings for the microphone, I couldn't find any of my apps listed, and I was unable to enable it.

A branded Laptop?

Win11 by default only installs critical security updates, unless you made the mistake of selecting “Get latest updates” which includes drivers.

See your laptop makers support to update both bios and ALL drivers.

There should be a shortcut to that makers update utility on your system.

Then set Bios to defaults & Pwr to balanced. At the end of the day shutdown, do not leave in sleep.

First, check Device Manager
1. Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
2. Expand the "Audio inputs and outputs" section.
3. Right-click on your microphone and select Update Driver.
4. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
5. If the driver is up to date but the microphone still doesn't work, right-click on the microphone again and select "Uninstall device."

Then restart your computer, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

Then, check the Microphone privacy settings again and ensure that the "Microphone access" toggle & "Let apps access your microphone" are turned on.
