Windows 11 media installer error. Error Code: 0x8007007B - 0xA001B

Hi I am trying to make a 32GB usb into a Windows media installer so that I can install Windows 11 onto a new computer. Unfortunately once it verifies Windows 11, it gets stuck at 50% and then immediately gives me the error: 0x8007007B - 0xA001B. How do I go about fixing this problem?

Hi Adam,
My name is Igor, it's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll try to help you.

Seems, MCT has a problem with interaction with you USB drive. Please try another one.

Adam,

did you try changing the volume name of the USB drive. Originally mine was named Recovery and the creation tool would fail with the 0x8007007B-0xA001B error. I changed the volume name to Win11 and ran without error.

Hope this helps.

Rob

You don't understand basic of computer since. That is not a problem I try to make easy description for you.
Each drive (SSD, Hard disk and also USB stick) have volume name (like user friendly drive name instead of drive letter C:, D: etc.). If you open the Internet Explorer where you can see the disk drives of the computer click on "My Computer" and you can see after the drive letter the Volume Names. You can easily right click and Rename those.
Don't forget same times need to remove and reconnect USB sticks to the new name will be visible after changed.

U mnie zadziałało :) It's working for me!

Great thanks, dude!

Translation: When I changed the previous name 'ESD-USB' to 'Win11', the wizard created the system installer successfully, but when I opened it in the file explorer, the volume name returned to 'ESD-USB' :))) But whatever, the important thing is that it works and created the installer :)

I got the same error due to using a VPN service with tracker blocking. I disconnected the VPN and retried the media creation process (USB stick), and it worked.

This is making some sense. I have the Malwarebytes browser extention running and when left to default, it does a lot of ad and tracking blocking. It is becomng my first suspect in odd situations like this.
