Windows 11 Laptop Freezing Randomly

Hello All,

I've been facing this issue recently: my laptop would suddenly freeze, usually not long after booting up. Sometimes it happens quickly within 2 minutes of start up, or sometimes after 1 hour when I randomly click on a video on Google Chrome.

During the freeze, the entire system becomes completely hanged, and neither the mouse nor the keyboard works.

There is left no other option but to force a hard shutdown. The last time it happened, it showed a blue screen that Windows could not load properly. I had previously run all sfc scans and DISM scans, but no issues were found. In the blue screen, I chose to uninstall the latest updates, both Quality and Feature but it showed error in uninstalling updates at both the places. Even after resetting the PC the problem persists.

I checked in the Dell forum also but there was no solution apt for my issue, the problem persisted after any supposed fix.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

This behavior can occur for several reasons. It is necessary to investigate.

Please do the following:

Export and share the log for analysis:
1. Press "Windows + X" and select "Event Viewer";
2. Expand "Windows Logs" and select "System";
3. In the "Actions" panel on the right, select "Filter Current Log";
4. In "Event level", check the boxes "Critical", "Warning", and "Error" and click on "Ok";
5. Again, in the "Actions" panel, select "Save Filtered Log File As" and save in an easily accessible place.

Then, upload the file to the cloud (OneDrive), choose to share it, and get the link.

Post the link to the file here so I can have a look.

I await your reply. Click on the "Reply" button below my reply.

I haven't found an error that could be related to the issue. Only the entries that say the shutdown was not expected and "Event 41 Kernel-Power". However, these entries are registered in all types of abrupt system shutdowns. Therefore, they are not entries that help identify the cause of the problem.

However, I found errors in the logs that could mean disk problems. Before proceeding, I think it's a good idea to check this.

Please, check the "health" of your SSD using Crystal Disk Info.
https://crystalmark.info/en/download/#CrystalDi...
(On this same page, there is the download of another app. The "Crystal Disk Mark". Do not download Crystal Disk Mark. Download only the "Crystal Disk Info".)
Download the "Standard Edition" by clicking on the "ZIP (XP-)" button.
Extract the ZIP and run the file "DiskInfo64.exe".
The health result of your SSD will be displayed. See if there are any alerts.

Feel free to share a screenshot if you want. Use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

Let me know the result. Click on the "Reply" button below my reply.

Yes. No problems were detected.

The SSD has not been used for very long.
Is the computer new, or is it just the SSD?

I will suggest a procedure for updating essential drivers and possibly firmware. But for that, I need more information about your device.

Please share a screenshot of your system information.
- Press "Windows + R", type msinfo32 and press Enter.
Maximize the window and use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

I await your reply. Click on the "Reply" button below my reply.

I suggest doing the following:

- Download the latest chipset driver from the link below and install it.
https://dl.dell.com/FOLDER10140261M/7/Intel-Chi...
(Run the downloaded EXE file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.)

- I noticed that the laptop BIOS is outdated. I suggest you update it by following Dell's instructions.

Then, see if the system will work stable.

If the issue occurs again after doing this, let me know. Click on the "Reply" button below my reply.

Feel free to ask back any questions.

The problem of crashing started once again.

Things were going fine after the BIOS and chipset updates, but today my laptop crashed twice within 3 minutes, it just froze still like before.

I tried choosing "Startup Repair" after the blue screen came after booting, but it was unable to find/fix any problem.

Both of the crashes happened soon after the boot up.

Here are the latest event log files, if you need:
