Windows 11 Installation Error Code: 0xC1900101 0x40021

I tried installing Windows 11 using ISO but I get a BSOD at the end INVALID_DATA_ACCESS_TRAP with the error:

Error Code: 0xC1900101 0x40021

The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during SYSPREP_RESPECIALIZE operation.

The windows 11 update prompt now disappeared from Settings->Windows Update, while Windows Installation Assistant and PC Health Checks still state that the PC is fully compatible. How can I solve this?

1) Check for a BIOS update for your device (VivoBook_ASUSLaptop X571GT_X571GT). If so, apply it.

2) Clean boot Windows using msconfig.exe. See How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support:

3) From an admin Command Prompt, please run these commands:

  • reg export "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Ds3Service" C:\Ds3Service.REG

Then, run:

  • sc.exe delete Ds3Service

Restart Windows and re-run the Windows 11 setup.
