After updating to windows 11, the option to customize "Choose a file to show on this folder icon" does not change the folder's display image even after applying, I have tried the solutions displayed here " https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/all/folder-icon-thumbnails-broken-windows-11-pro/0e60c9ee-e5f0-4e6d-80c9-42cf2f89752e " but it did not solve the issue, I also do not have the option to revert to windows 10 where this problem never occurred

Aditya gave incorrect information. With Windows 11, you can no longer see previews of the contents inside the folders. The only distinction provided by the team is, if there are some files inside, the folder icon would have a tiny paper clip.

Sorry but i did not mean previews, I meant the changing of the folder icon itself in the folder's properties this no longer works no matter what I've tried

Please bring back the ability to choose a file to show on the folder icon under the customize tab of properties immediately. The loss of this function is traumatic in my picture folders.

Not only that but when I customize folders and sub folders to pictures it may or may not comply. Windows 10 had the same problem with windows ten reverting back to General Items often. If I wanted a list of 50 to 5000 items I would not mind but I don't want a list I want icons. You should have stuck with windows 7 and let us control our own computers.

Whatever Microsoft is training their employees to do, it certainly has nothing to do with making life easier for its users.
I really wish there was an alternative to Microsoft. Using Windows is like having dog poop on your shoe that you can't clean off.

Windows 10 was crammed down out throats now we have Windows 11. I loved Windows 7 Windows 8 was OK, but missed many features. Windows 10 was a mess, it lost the look. Widows 11 is as stated, Dog Poop. that we will have to smell every time we log on.
Honestly who would want to see their photo files in list form? I don't like any of my files in List or details. But no..... You get what
we give you and like it we are Microsoft and we are your Gods. Bow to us peasants. Eat your gruel an like it.

Hello Sumit,
I disagree. IN Windows 11, when you go to folder properties, then customize, it states CLEARLY, "Choose a file to show on the folder icon."
What you write (in part), "With Windows 11, you can no longer see previews of the contents inside the folders," is contrary to the question. What I want to do is show a picture file on the folder, as I could in Windows 10.
If it is not possible to do that, then why does the option still exist in Properties/Customization?
