Windows 11 Cast to TV but no sound

Hi all

I've been trying to cast my laptop to my smart tv. The image shows up fine, but there's no sound. When I enter the sound option, the digital output volume is 0 and won't let me increase it. I've used my other laptop (2) to cast to the same TV, and the sound was fine. I also tried casting my laptop (1) to my smart monitor, and the sound works fine.

I should add that initially the sound was fine, however it suddenly went out while casting and hasn't worked since. I've reset my TV, tried reinstalling my sound drivers and restarted my laptop, but to no avail. The only thing I haven't done is uninstall and reinstall Windows on this laptop, which I'm reluctant to do. I've tried Googling but can't find a solution whatsoever.

Hello Jason White,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Microsoft Answers Community.

By "cast to TV", do you mean connecting the TV wirelessly using Miracast?

To determine the issue, please press Windows+R and enter "mmsys.cpl" when the issue occurs, and provide a screenshot showing the playback devices.

Then, right-click Start->Device manager. Expand "Audio inputs and outputs", "Sound, video, and game controllers" and "Other devices", and provide a screenshot as well.

We look forward to your response.

Hiya

Yes, that's what I meant.

I've attached the screenshots you requested and some additional ones showing the issue with the digital output. It's showing the volume at 0 but won't let me increase it. When I try, it forces its way back to 0.

Just managed to fix it. I had to uninstall the driver under the Mirascast display devices and restart my laptop.

Doesn't work on my computer. There's no audio device in device manager for the TV.

Thanks! This worked for me, had the exact same issue spring out of nowhere and uninstalling the Miracast Device worked.
