Windows 11 Abnormalities After Building a PC.

Greetings,

I've recently built my own PC from the scratch, installed Windows 11 and its drivers. Here are the specs:

  • Motherboard: ASRock B650M Pro RS

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700x

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060Ti

  • Storages: 3 NVMEs

  • Case: Deep Cool CH360 Digital [USB-C port, USB-A port, Audio Jack 3.5mm port]

Everything went normal until I stumbled a couple of problems...

(1): Front panel USB-A port does not seem to work. I tried connecting different kinds of USBs that supports the port, but the response that I always get from windows is "Unknown USB Device (Device Description Request Failed)". I plugged it behind the case via motherboard, and it seems to work. It's just only the front panel USB-A port does not seem to work. Here are the following solutions that I tried, but failed to fix the problem.

  • I Uninstalled the "Unknown USB Device (Device Description Request Failed)" driver, and restart the computer.

  • I Updated my ASRock B650M Pro RS motherboard to its latest version.

  • I Updated my Windows 11 to its latest version, including the "Optional Updates".

  • I Reseat the USB-A port cable from the motherboard.

  • I Installed ASRock's Auto-Driver install software, so that I can see any missing drivers, outdated drivers, etc...

(2): Front panel Audio Jack 3.5mm port also does not work for me. Again, like the previous problem I plugged my headphones through the motherboard, and it seems that everything works fine. It's just only the front panel that seems to not work for me. Here are the following solutions that I tried, but failed to fix the problem.

  • I Updated my ASRock B650M Pro RS motherboard to its latest version.

  • I Updated my Windows 11 to its latest version, including the "Optional Updates".

  • I Reseat the Audio port cable from the motherboard.

  • I Installed ASRock's Auto-Driver install software, so that I can see any missing drivers, outdated drivers, etc...

An interesting phenomena is that I don't see the "Headphones" driver in my Sound Control Panel, which I find it questionable, since every device should have this driver.

(3): My iPhone won't show in iTunes. I've installed iTunes in Microsoft Store. I connect my iPhone to the computer, and a message prompts where I decide whether to trust the computer or not, obviously I choose "trust". Everything is all done, but iTunes does not show my iPhone. Here are the following solutions that I tried, but failed to fix the problem.

  • I Repaired, Reset, and Re-Install iTunes.

  • I Uninstalled iTunes from the Microsoft Store, and downloaded a independent software from Apple. But seems to be outdated, so I re-installed it back from the Microsoft Store.

  • I also Uninstalled the "Apple iPhone" driver, and restart my PC.

  • I tried Different Cables, even the official ones, non seems to work.

My iPhone is an iPhone 14 Pro Max.

An interesting phenomena is that when I connect my iPhone 14 Pro Max to the PC, and head to "This PC", the File Explorer Freezes.

These are the current problems that I'm dealing with right now. As much as possible, I would like to use the front panel ports as it has easier access. I appreciate any solutions, aside from what I've provided.

(i): Additional details as of today's date: May 4, 2024 (5/4/2024)

https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B650M%20Pro%20RS/index.asp#BIOS: Latest BIOS Update (non-beta) is version 2.10 [Installed]

https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-10691: Went to apple support in regards to iTunes.

Thank you so much for helping me :D

May the 4th be with you

Hello Carlsen Angelo Pol, welcome to the Microsoft Community!

Based on your feedback, you are experiencing Windows 11 exceptions after assembling your PC!

You can try the following:

Check the memory:

Open the Memory Diagnostic Tool by tapping Windows+R, typing MdSched, and tapping Enter

Tap Reboot Now and check for problems

Follow the prompts to check, wait for it to complete and check the report to see if there is any problem detected.

Check the hard disk:

Search for cmd and run it in administrator mode

Type chkdsk c: /f

Wait for the check to complete and see if the problem is checked and fixed.

Disclaimer: Run chkdsk to check the file system and file system metadata of the volume for logical and physical errors. To avoid causing unnecessary trouble, please follow the above steps step by step and do not interrupt or cancel during the run, and make a backup of important data.

Perform a clean boot

The method is as follows

1. Tap Windows+R and type msconfig.

2. Open System Configuration and select General tab - Selective Startup.

3. Remove the checkmark of Load startup items.

4. Go to the Services tab - click Hide all microsoft services in the lower left corner, and then click Disable all.

5. Click OK and restart your computer. (Be sure to select Hide all microsoft services first and then click Disable all, otherwise it may lead to unforeseen problems such as not being able to access the system.)

6. Check if the problem will reappear.

DISCLAIMER: Clean Boot is a way to start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if background programs are interfering with your games or programs and help you figure out the cause of the problem. It will help you get back on track.

To try to repair your system

1. Search for CMD, locate the Command Prompt and select Run in Administrator Mode.

2. Enter the following commands one by one, make sure to execute the next command after the previous one is completed.

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

SFC /Scannow

3. After the scan is complete, you can check the scanning information to see if any problems have been detected and fixed.

Check if the hard disk mode is achi in the bios.

I hope you find the above information helpful.

Thank you for your help Kirito, however I'm still having the same issues after doing all the solutions that you have provided. Windows 11 did found some corrupted files, and fixed them, but the problems still insist. Are there any more solutions?

Thank you.

----

I have connected and reseated the cables that you told me. I have tried connecting the USB cable to numbers 20 and 21, and I still have the same error: ""Unknown USB Device (Device Description Request Failed)".

I think it's not an issue of the cable not working, since windows prompted a notification of the USB failing to connect once I connected a USB-A to the front panel.

Again, as stated, I have plugged my USB-A device directly to the motherboard and it connects.

If you want, I could take a picture of my motherboard and its cables being plugged. However, I will only take out the Graphics Card, and not the CPU Cooler, as USB connectors are found at the edges of the motherboard.

Hi Raju,

Based from the image provided, this is the only, that I know of, that has anything to do with USB. It seems that I can't find what you asking me to look for. "USB Device", "Legacy USB Controller", "Standard USB Controller".
