Windows 11 24H2 killed my Synaptics TouchPad Driver - Now Not Compatible!

Updated my HP Omen 17" laptop recently to 24H2 and now find I am unable to use two fingers to scroll webpages. Synaptics TouchPad v19.5.35.1 driver currently installed. Tried download the software from HP and during install a message tells me its not compatible with my devise. I HATE updates when they screw up my system and there's no way to fix it.

I would appreciate some help please. Thank you

Hello Devonbiker,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Microsoft Answers Community.

Based on the description, it seems that the latest Synaptics driver is not compatible with Windows 11 24H2.

Thank you for your feedback. I have submitted this issue for you through internal channels.

In addition, you can also submit your problem through the Feedback Hub (if convenient, please provide as much detail as possible, including pictures, reproduction videos, etc.).

As a workaround, if the upgrade is within 10 days, you can try going back to the previous version of Windows 11. To do so, right-click Start->Settings->System->Recovery. Select "Go back", and follow the instructions.

You can also restore the system to a restore point. To do so, press Windows+R and enter "rstrui". Select a restore point before the issue, and proceed with the restore.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Best Regards,

My 18month old HP Pavilion laptop Windows 11 version 24H2 (64-bit) trackpad mouse is also not working. Worked in BIOS but only for a few seconds in windows.

These untested updates are inconveniencing peoples lives. Microsoft please work with vendors before pushing updates.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately HP only offers Windows 10 drivers despite my model HP Omen 17-an101na running Windows 11, so there are no updates from HP. I'm really surprised Microsoft have not fixed this by now, its been a while. I was not able to roll back my version of Windows. This sucks as I'm no longer able to scroll using my touchpad.

I have the same problem and a partial fix seems to be to use the MS PS2 mouse driver.

Is the bug fixed? I just notice this problem some days ago because I mainly use a mouse in the laptop. Very annoying.

Hi Nutthapoj Snansiang,

I discovered this optional update in windows update:-

'Microsoft - HIDClass - 10/27/2015 12:00:00 AM - 9.9.108.0'.

Although I had no idea what it was for, I applied it on 15th April and no issues since.

Might be worth a try - best of luck!

Chris

I have 11 optional updates but none is like yours. However, I update them all and now the issue is gone. So, Thanks a lot.

As I am using Windows 11 Insider releases this may explain the update differences. I am just pleased that your issue is solved. Life is so much better when the track pad is working as it should!
