Windows 11 - 100% CPU usage

Hi there,
I'm running Windows 11 and experiencing 100% CPU usage.

I've tried the following:

- malware scan

- virus scan

- Windows updates

- driver updates

- closing various tasks that are running

Even when no programs are open (e.g. browser, Outlook, etc.) it shows as 100% and the fan is running hard. Tasks like Task Manager, Desktop Windows Manager, etc. all seem to scale to and make it at 100%.

When I look at Details tab of Task Manager the System Idle Process is varying from 60-99%.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Hi, my name is Anderson Souza, I hope I can help you with your issue.

We can start by enabling a Clean Windows Boot. A clean boot is performed to start Windows using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps to eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program on Windows 11. You can also resolve or determine which conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot.

Please check the necessary procedures to do a clean boot on Windows at the link below:

If the problem does not occur at Clean Boot, the article itself indicates how to identify the problem.

Thanks for the suggestion regarding using Clean Boot to solve the problem.

I've done this and have confirmed no other apps are running, including removing virus protection.

The system is still running at 100% CPU.

Any other suggestions or things to check?

Thank you!

Issue has been solved. I set my Power setting back to Balance and reset the settings for Balanced and this solved the problem.

Thanks for the feedback. If this problem did not occur before and it started a short time ago, it may be that a system restore will solve the problem.

This option takes your PC back to an earlier point in time, called a system restore point. Restore points are generated when you install a new app or driver, and when you create a restore point manually. Restoring won’t affect your personal files, but it will remove apps, drivers, and updates installed after the restore point was made.
