windows 10 will not boot after installing McAfee

HP laptop with Windows 10 preloaded.  I installed McAfee and now OS will not start.  Just get a black screen with the 6-dot circle going round and round and round and.....  No other function keys work.  I see lots of other posts re. McAfee but nothing addresses my particular issue.  Suggestions?

Are you running Windows Defender. If so shut it down and re install McAfee and then put windows defender on again. Also check if it is getting past the firewall.

Thanks for the quick response.  Unfortunately, it might be something besides McAfee.  I turned off Windows Defender and went to uninstall McAfee to start over but McAfee doesn't even show up as an installed application (though it was installed originally when my wife bought the computer).  I reset the PC using the option the keep personal files and it still won't boot past the HP logo.  Could be a registry setting perhaps? Thanks again.

How you getting past the HP logo to perform these actions is it free or paid removed McAfee completely using the official removal tool if you can get on your machine, Clean out all entries,

best bet is debris of security software left behind if you can still re install mcafee then backup and do a clean install of windows a custom install reverts to a clean computer and then install mcAfee and other compatible software you previously backed up good luck.
