Windows 10 version 1903 and AMD Athlon II X4 640

Dear,

I fail to update our Windows 10 version 1903. Processor is an AMD Athlon II X4 640.

Tried to update and install version 1909.

But it fails with the same message "We couldn't install some updates because the PC was turned off." although the PC was never turned off.

Could you please let me know what I have to do?

I know that my desktop is old, but it is still doing what I need including photoshop etc …

Hope you can help.

Best regards,

Hi RaoulDaniels,

My name is Lee and I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Try to do Windows Update first, this time do it manually to prevent the same error to happen:

• Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...
• Click Update now and download the Windows Update Assistant
• Run the Windows Update Assistant and allow the app to analyze your Current Windows Update version
• The App will download the latest Windows Update and with your permission, allow the app to install the updates
• Once done, your PC will reboot multiple times

After the successful Windows Update, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > check for updates to install minor security updates for v. 1909.

If my suggestion did not solve the issue, please reply back so we can try other step.

Kind Regards,

Dear,

Thank you for your help.

Unfortunately, it failed too.

It starts to install, but reaching +/- of its completion, it warns that some of the objects could not be installed. So it resumes by the reinstallation of the previous version.

It concerns Windows Home 10.0.17134 build 17134.

Best regards,

Raoul Daniels

Dear Lee,

The problem solver gave initially that a potential update database error was detected.

I followed then step by step your recommendations, wiped the downloaded files.

Scannow and RestoreHealth went OK, no issues.

I excecuted the updated services, ran the DOS scripts as described, followed by an Update again.

The update failed at 60% with messaging "Windows could not configure one or more system components. To installWindows, restart the computer and then restart the installation".

Checked the problem solver again, this time no issues anymore.

I will restart the installation a few times …

Best regards, Raoul

If the installation failed again, let's just update the Windows Update Registry Key perhaps it is problematic.

• Go to: https://1drv.ms/u/s!ArvVxah_YviElROpYcWFTSbD8ob...
• Click download (download button located at top-left)
• Install the wuauserv.reg file and click OK to accept
• Restart the system
• After the restart, check back the Services app and locate the "Windows Update" service and the "Background Intelligent Transfer Service", kindly START if the status is stopped or RESTART if the status is Running.

Sincerely,
Lee

Hello Lee,

I have set to automatic, tried an update again but it stops at 60% installation and then wipes the update and reinstall version 1803.

So still the same issue.

Best regards, Raoul

Thank you for trying my suggestions. Since the issue still persist, my next advise is for you to perform system recovery options such as Reset, System restore, in-place upgrade or a complete Windows 10 operating system re-installation:

• Reset: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDxV2gium5Y

• System Restore: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tgodWHzApo

• In-place upgrade: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l06XupVqH74&...

Hello Lee,

I followed one, the in place upgrade. Runs differently but stumbles again at 60%.

But this time it generated an error code 0xC1900101 - 0x30018 in first phase FIRST_BOOT with an error in SYSPREP_SPECIALIZE.

Could this error code help to understand where the hick is?

Best regards, Raoul
