Windows 10 user profile switched

I have a problem. I did a remote access with the support team to try and figure out how this problem happened. They suggested this forum.  We have two computers.  One in my office, one in my husbands. Wireless. This am when I went into my computer, my husbands favorites were across the top, not mine.  I went into his computer and my favorites were on his fav bar. I have no idea what happened. But the support person went in remotely to my computer and said I had one profile, etc.  She said my PC looked fine. I haven't done a remote session on my husbands computer yet. How could they just switch like that?  My support person also said that it looks like it was synchronized. We didn't initiate that. Help.

Hi Marci. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 year Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator here to help you.

Is it limited to Edge or has the entire MS Account been changed into the other person's? Check at Settings > Accounts > Your Info to see if your account is there with the correct email address, then check in Settings > Accounts > Email and Accounts to see if the other's email was added to any apps. If so you can click to Remove the account.

If you'll report back what you find, I will have other steps if necessary.

All you need to do is switch the Administrative Microsoft Account.

Follow these steps to get all your Fav's onto your computer.

Go to setting [windows key + i]

then click on "Accounts"

Now, In "Your Info", Check if the Administrative account is your's, If not, follow these steps further to make yours as Admin.

Click on " Sign in with local account instead"

Enter any user name & DON'T set any sort of password [as this will be a temp acc]

Now, Click on "Sign Out & Finish"

You'll be signed out of the computer, Hit enter to sign in back [no need to enter any password, cause you haven't set one]

Go back to Accounts, this time click on "Sign In with Microsoft Account"

Add your own Microsoft account, enter the credentials required. {the computer may ask a password, just click on "next", case you didn't set one for the local account}

After entering the your Microsft account, you'll have all your Favs [it may take some time to sync]

Thank you!

Also when you go Settings, Accounts go to the bottom and Sync your settings and turn it off in both computers.

I uninstalled Edge. OneDrive still has an icon on the display. I never added that. I am the Administrator. Always have been. I looked on my husbands computer and his profile is his.  So, his account is still there.  I have to type in his password to open. All the same. Just the favs bar is my stuff.  Weird.  I need to go into his computer, but where do I begin?  The Micros support says she doesn't deal with synchronization.  I don't even know what that  means??

This was also a reply to my message..... "Also when you go Settings, Accounts go to the bottom and Sync your settings and turn it off in both computers."

I should turn sync off on all categories in Settings?  Is that what's screwing up his computer?

Sync Settings is for the specific account only.

From what I'm understanding it sounds like your account converted to your husbands. I can help you convert it back. You would go into Settings > Accounts > My Info and click the link to Sign in with a Local Account Instead. Give the Local account your name - it's only temporary.

Restart PC, go back to the same place where the same link should now read "Sign in with a Microsoft Account Instead." Choose that and put in your own MS Account email address. It should sign into your account.

To make sure no apps keep your husband's sign-in, next go to Settings > Accounts > Email and Accounts, highlight to Remove any accounts that are not yours from both categories - unless you want his account to remain in your Mail app because it's shared or other.

Its the  other way around. He has my favorites on the header  of his Google main screen. Where did his go? The profile and acct doesn't look like its changed. Just the fav bar. He's afraid he's lost those signins and has to re-create them again.
