Windows 10 - USB Joystick prevents display from powering off

When I have either of my USB joysticks connected to my system, the computer will not switch off the displays after a defined period of inactivity (it is ignoring the settings in Settings / System / Power & Sleep/ Screen).  If I remove both of my joysticks, then the behaviors are as expected (the screen will; switch off).

This was not an issue with the same hardware in Windows 8 / 8.1 - issue only arose after the Win 10 upgrade

Any workarounds to this?  Is it a defect?

Joysticks are a CH Products Fightersick USB and CH Products USB Rudder Pedals.

Thanks for any insights,

when i install the drivers for Saitex X-52 flight controller and i disconnect the joystick then i have no control over my pc anymore the only thing i can do is shut down my pc by pressing the power button for more than 4 secs.

After i reboot and remove the drivers in device manager under HID then it works back normal.

i've sent an e-mail to Saitek to ask for new drivers for X-52 but there are no drivers at the moment, they working on it.

Maybe is the problem also by microsoft, i don't know, everything works fine under win 8.1 but after the opgrade to win 10 the problems started.

HELP!!!

I am having the same problem after upgrading to Win 10 with Saitek Pedals, CH Joystick and CH Throttle, any of them plugged in prevents the computer from going to sleep, turning off monitor or going to screen saver.

Was not a problem with Win 7.

I am having the same problem with Saitek X-52 Pro preventing screen sleep. Once removed sleep works fine.

I too would like to know if there is a workaround in windows 10 for this defect.

Same here, with Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick. Installing the most recent drivers, from the manufacturer's site, did no good obviously, since multiple brands of joysticks, and thus drivers, are exhibiting the same problem.

On a side note, I noticed that when rebooting with the joystick plugged in, the OS refuses to see the joystick. Go into Control Panel, and it is not in the Devices lineup. Triggering the search for new hardware will not find it. You must unplug the joystick, and then plug it back in again, to get the OS to register its presence.

My point being that while plugged in, in either state (recognized by the OS or not), it causes the monitor to never go into sleep mode, and the system will never go into hibernate mode. Unplug the joystick, and leave it that way, and all is good (even without a reboot), with sleep & hibernate.

It was fine with Windows 7, but after update to Windows 10 it prevents sleep.

Took me a while to figure this out since powercfg doesn't list it as preventing sleep.

Definitely a Windows 10 specific bug, I hope they fix it soon.

It seems as if this issue has been fixed within the past few days.  Whatever updates have been applied now allow my PC's two displays to "sleep", even with multiple joysticks attached.

This is wonderful news!  Can anyone else confirm it is fixed for them too?  I went back to Windows 8.1, but plan to upgrade again to Windows 10 as soon as this issue gets solved.

I would also like to know if it has been fixed, I went back to Win 7 but won't install Win 10 until I am sure it is fixed.

I still experience the issue, even though I have all updates installed. Perhaps it wasn't fixed for Logitech joysticks.
