Windows 10 Store crashes when I try to install an App.

Hi,

Windows 10 Store: When I try to install Apps (Instagram, Twitter, etc), I get as far as selecting the App to install, I press "GET", and then after a few seconds the Microsoft Store disappears.

I never sign into the Windows Account for security reasons, so signing in is not an option for me.

I have tried these solutions:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_install-winpc/windows-10-store-app-crashes/249acfbe-bf74-4b62-9b7f-1ae63f40372e?auth=1

Neither of those worked - I still have exactly the same issue.

The App Store used to work as I have already installed an App.

Please advise?
Thanks for your time in advance. Regards, Ben.

Hi Ben,

There are some reasons why the Windows 10 Store App crashes after launching and it might be caused by an update. Kindly answer these questions so we can isolate the issue:

  • When did that start happening?
  • Did you make any changes to your device?
  • Did the Windows App Troubleshooter give you an error message?
  • What is the current OS Build of your Windows 10 device? Click the Start button, then type winver, and then press Enter to verify this information.

You can also perform additional troubleshooting steps from this thread by Andre Da Costa.

Hope this helps and we're looking forward to your reply.

Hi Noela, thanks for the reply.

It started happening about a week ago.

No changes made. Last change was to install the Telegram App. That was 2 to 3  weeks ago.

No message from the Windows App Troubleshooter.

Current Build: V1709 16299.192

I will look at the thread you supplied.

Thank you, Ben.

Hi Noela,

I have tried every possible solution now, but the same problem remains.

The MS Store closes are a few seconds when I press "GET".

Is there anything else I can try?

Kind regards, Ben

There are a few reasons why an app doesn't install into a Windows 10 device through the Windows Store. It's either the app is not compatible with your device or your computer was recently updated but wasn't restarted. If updates for Windows 10 was recently installed, you need to restart your PC before you can install new apps from the Microsoft Store.

If the Windows Store app doesn't launch properly, kindly follow the steps provided in this link

Hope this helps and let us know if you need further assistance.

Hi Neola,

I have followed all those links and performed all the procedures, but I am still having the same problems.

The Apps that I am trying to instal is Twitter, so it's not an uncommon App.

Can you think of anything else I can try?

Thanks for your time.

Kind regards, Ben.

Since we're going to install Twitter into your Windows 10 device, we have to do System File Check. It's a utility built into the Operating System and it scans the integrity of all the protected operating system files and then replaces the incorrect, corrupted, changed, or damaged versions with the correct versions where possible.

Here's how to do it:

1. Open the command prompt window by right-clicking on Start or Windows logo, then select Command Prompt (Admin).

2. Please copy and paste chkdsk /r /f at the command prompt then hit Enter.

3. Type Y then press the Enter key to schedule a scan.

When it cannot repair the damage DISM should be run to fix as many errors as possible.

Keep us posted and we'll be willing to assist you further.
