- Did you install new programs or updates before getting this problem in Windows Defender?
- Were you previously using a different security software on the PC?
If a third-party antivirus program was previously running on the computer, it's possible that it wasn't removed completely. If that is the case, we suggest getting the corresponding uninstaller for the third-party software you were using before. Once all
traces of the old program have been removed, see if the options will be available when using Defender.
