windows 10 - Screen won't turn on after wake up from sleep

Hey,

Since I installed windows 10, I have a problem.

Sometimes (Usually, but not always) when I wake up my laptop from sleep mode, the screen stays off.

The power lid is on, but nothing else happens.

I have to do hard shutdown (reset) to turn on my computer.

I've looked in many forums and couldn't find any solution so far.

In addition, I disabled hibernation on windows 8.1, and no i cannot enable it via CMD (powercfg -h on doesn't work)

I have Asus zenbook ux 303ln.

Troubleshooting finds nothing. That is basically useless.

This doesn't help at all. And no one seems to be able to fix it. I actually took my 1 year old laptop to a computer repair place to have them help, and they told me I needed a new motherboard. No, I need Microsoft to fix this. What it the problem? Why can't you create an "update" that fixes this?

Did you ever get this fixed?  My Dell Inspiron All in One just started doing this a couple of weeks ago.  The computer is only a year old. I took it to geek squad and they sent it off for repairs.  They said that they replaced the processor and solved the issue but I got it back and nothing has changed.  I don't think the agent that we took it to at the store described the issue to them in the notes as he didn't even mention that it had anything to do with sleep.  The notes when they sent it back said that "windows loaded".  well duh -that was never the issue.

I also did a Geek Squad session over the phone yesterday where they take over your computer and the agent said that when I woke it up from sleep, he could see my screen.  For me, it was all black though. I could hear that it was woken up though.  He could see my mouse moving around to try to wake it up. all he did was some virus scans -said he found some threats and that should fix it (funny because I had literally just got it back from Geek Squad and hadn't even used it =they had done a virus scan during the last session I had with them right before I took it in to Best Buy (Geek Squad).

I tried the powercfg method and everything else that I found but nothing has worked. Of course you can just turn off sleep, but who wants a computer running 24/7.  I don't want to have to turn it off either.

I took my computer back to Geek Squad and this time they fixed it.  They said it was a Bios update. I don't know any of the details though.  Maybe you could find someone to check that out for you.

Have the same issue.

W10 on a retina macbook pro.

After I plugged in a HDMI display the internal screen went back on.

For short periods of time the display wake up works. But when the computer is closed for a longer time the state of sleep is changed from sleep to hibernation?

A BIOS update fixed it for me!  Thank you for this information.  Everyone else trying to fix this, do a BIOS update if you are somewhat tech savy.  You have to enter your BIOS (usually by hitting F2 when your computer starts), and using their BIOS update tool to update it.  Be careful, this process can brick your PC if you don't know what you're doing (i didnt really know what I was doing but used google to help), so perhaps get someone to help.... or google a lot about the process like me and risk it lol.

I have the same issues. Simply turning my monitor off then back on brings the screen back up. Would prefer a fix so it does this automatically.
