Windows 10 rejected Intel Q6600 as insufficient CPU

Did anyone else have issues installing windows 10 on a machine running the Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 Ghz processor? Windows 10 called out the CPU specifically but I am seeing others who have successfully updated machines with the same CPU.

Thanks

Calvin

Windows 10 64bit or 32bit?

Does anybody have Windows 10 64bit working with a Q6600 processor?

I don't think the 64bit version of Windows 10 will work with a Q6600.  Windows 10 32bit should work though, but I don't want to install 32bit.

I need W10 64bit to work for me because I have 8GB RAM and 32bit W10 will not use but 3.4GB of that RAM.

I had both (multi-boot) Windows 7 32bit and 7 64bit running on a Dell Dimension E520 with an Intel Q6600 CPU - in the Win7-64bit version it allowed an upgrade to Windows 10 and that works fine, but the Win10 Upgrade App showing on Win7-32 reports that the Intel Q6600 "CPU isn't supported"!

The recent "fix" (KB2952664for the Appraiser CPU error has been installed but, when trying to force the Compatibility Appraiser to run it seems to fail, as the last test date is not incremented.

I will wait to see if the Appraiser runs sometime by itself and corrects this erroneous compatibility response, or I may try the BIOS to disabled "NX", as suggested, - that is if the E520 BIOS has that capability. (The reason I had to install a 64bit OS was that one major programme is no longer supported in 32bit, but another program fails to work in 64bit mode!)

I finally upgraded to Windows 10 Pro 64bit on my PC that has a Q6600 2.40 GHz processor.  Win10 Pro 64bit installed without issues.  No errors.  Device Manager shows no issues.

I simply upgraded my previous Windows 7 Pro 64bit to Windows 10 Pro 64bit via the free upgrade offer.

After upgrading I tried using Windows 10 for a couple of days and went back to Windows 7.  It was simply not worth the pain of learning about Windows 10 when I am an expert in Windows 7.  I see little if any "consumer" benefit to upgrading to Windows 10.  It has a ton of new features that simply do not interest me and Cortana (the only feature I wanted) must be allowed to spy on you to work.

I do understand people like windows 7 more than 10 and to be fair windows 7 was great but new things come along and it just works better for me 10 i miss 7 but love 10 more. And anyway i need 10 for gaming its the best for it 10 isn't really any different than 7 in terms of interface
