Windows 10 - PIN Login

I upgraded 2 laptops to Windows 10.  On 1 I can Login using the PIN I set up for my Microsoft Account on the other the PIN will not work.  When I attempt to Login using the PIN I get the following message:

"You can't sign into your device right now. Try the last password you used on this device."

If I type the password then I can login.  I have tried changing the PIN but still not working.  I tried the to remove PIN using the instruction I found on this forum, but I receive "PIN is not working at this time, try again later".

What am I doing wrong?

I was experiencing the same issue on my HP Stream 7. The instructions here appear to have resolved the issue for me.

I had this issue with a new computer I just bought. The issue is that you are logged into your online Microsoft account. To fix this issue, in the settings under accounts, there is a link to create a local account on your computer instead of using your Microsoft account. For your local account, create a password (I used the same one as my Microsoft account) and the computer will log out.

Log back in and go to your security and account information. You can now add a PIN and use that as your log in.

Hi Preeti

I have the same issue. I've followed the steps to start Credential Manager.

I try to add pin, I'm asked for my password, I'm asked for a pin and to repeat it, I'm then returned to the Sign In Options page with a message saying "Something went wrong. Try again later".

My laptop using Windows 10 responds with an error code when I try to use my PIN. I get an "invalid code" message.

In my case starting the process have helped to get through the process of setting the pin (it was originally not reacting to the button at all). But after process is over system thinks for a while and then nothing happens. Not even error. it just shows me add pin option again.
