Windows 10 picture login

I'm having difficulty reverting back to picture login. I have been using picture login for the last four years and yesterday my daughter changed the login option (from the login screen) to typing the password. I have no idea what my typed password is and now cannot revert back to picture login. The button for changing login options is no longer visible on the login screen.

Please advise.

Hello Terry, my name is Farah and I'm an Independent Adviser. I can help you regarding this problem

There was a small trick to access the other login options,
On the login screen, press the Tab key on your keyboard., after doing that, you should see a password input field. Now click on Sign in Options and enter your PIN if you have one.

Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved

Cheers!
Farah

Farah,

Sorry, but that doesn't fix the issue. Striking the TAB key only moves me through the fields of the login screen, none of which have anything to do switching login options. I have 40+ years of experience with computers, mostly Windows based and have never seen an issue such as this. I find it confusing that Microsoft made it so easy for my daughter to change the login mode in the first place. A person who was intentionally locked out of accessing my operating system. Thanks for your help.

I came across another method which require access to the Services in Windows.
Please check if it helps:
* Type Services in start menu and open it
* Find a service called credentials manager, set the start up type from Automatic to Manual.
Restart the computer and check again .

Farah,

To be able to use that method I would first have to be logged into Windows. My problem is that I'm stuck at the login screen and cannot proceed further.

This action of being able to switch back to my original picture login screen should be incredibly easy. Not sure how Microsoft missed this.

Hey Terry,

there is an option to reset your password if you were using your Microsoft account as a login and not a local admin account.

If none of this works, let me know
I hope that others can provide more ideas

Farah,

I do have a Microsoft account. Unfortunately, it's not linked to my desktop computer. I only use it on my mobile devices.

I appreciate your effort with this issue. Looks like I'm going to have to pay tech support to fix their own problem.

Hi Terry,

To create a picture password for your user account, you need to open the Settings app. In the Settings app, go to Accounts. On the left side of the Settings window, choose "Sign-in options." Then, on the right side of the Settings app, you see several settings and buttons that are related to signing into Windows 10.

Richard,

I already have a picture password and have been using it for the past 4 years. My problem is that my daughter switched my login option (from the login screen) to typing in the password. It has been so long since I had to type my password that I have forgotten what it was. Now I am unable to switch back to picture login because the "login options" is no longer available on the login screen. So I am stuck at the login screen unable to do anything else.

Hi Terry,

I just wanted to know if it's a local account or a Microsoft account?

Kindly check this thread for suggested steps on how you can reset your password depending on specific situation:
