windows 10 pc fn keys not working

recently my fn keys stopped working, for some reason i can still turn off logitech game mode but nothing else. ive tried a lot of things but didnt work for me.

Hi ,Zero Two1

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

There is currently no way to determine why the fn key is not working, let's check it out

Test whether it is a system problem or software interference, it is recommended to enter the computer's safe mode to test.

Safe Mode starts Windows in a limited state, where only the most basic functions are enabled.

Please refer to this article: Start your PC in safe mode in Windows (microsoft.com)

Connect an external keyboard to test whether fn is available, and check whether the keyboard is the problem.

We look forward to hearing from you.

so i got to test with 2 different pcs, 1 laptop and only one keyboard

its easier to explain it with if i number them so 1= my pc 2= another pc 3= laptop and theyre all on windows 10

1- fn keys didnt work on normal nor safe mode

2- fn keys worked while in normal mode but couldnt test in safe mode

3- fn keys worked while on normal mode but didnt work on safe boot

so in conclusion its problably a system problem or software interference

Hi,

Thank you for responding back.

Perform a clean boot to remove software interference.

Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.

Type msconfig and select system configuration from the results.

When the System Configuration Utility opens, click the Services tab.

Next, choose to hide all Microsoft services box.

Then, click the "Disable All" button.

Next, open the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.

In the Startup tab, select each item and click Disable.

Close the task manager.

In the "System Configuration" window, click "OK" and restart your PC.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows (microsoft.com)

(Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background program is interfering with your program and to isolate the cause of a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by step so that it will help you get you back on track.

Does the esc key in the upper left corner of your keyboard have a small lock, this key may lock the fn key.

Press and hold the Fn key, then press and hold the shortcut function lock key above to see if you can unlock it.

Update device drivers

Right-click the Windows key and select Device Manager.

Check for keyboard drivers for available updates, right-click them and select Update Driver Software.

After the update, restart the system.

Or do you have a hotkey driver installed on your computer? For example, the Hothey driver, if there is one, uninstall it and try it out.

Hope it helps you. Have a nice day.

Best Regards,

Hinata
