Windows 10 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Ever since I have upgraded to windows 10, I have had this problem where when I try and turn my computer off it comes up with an error page and says Windows 10 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA and then it restarts itself so there is no way to turn my PC off unless i go down behind the PC and turn it off by the switch and I am getting tired of that.

Any help would be very much appreciated

Cheers

Daniel Groves

Also, it may help to look at the minidump files from the blue screen crashes.

Can you zip up the minidump files in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder and make available (provide link) via a public folder on OneDrive or similar site?

Here's a couple of links on using OneDrive (SkyDrive):

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/skydrive/add-photos-files-faq

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/onedrive/share-file-folder

If you have problems zipping the minidump files copy the minidump files to another location such as a folder on the Desktop

Also, you do not necessarily have to zip up the minidump files, you can upload them one at a time

Hi,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Before proceeding, we need more information to help you better.

  • Have you installed any third party antivirus software in Windows 10?

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA Stop message/error occurs when requested data is not found in memory. The system generates a fault, which normally indicates that the system looks for data in the paging file. In this circumstance, however, the missing data is identified as being located within an area of memory that cannot be paged out to disk. The system faults, but cannot find, the data and is unable to recover. Faulty hardware, a buggy system service, antivirus software, and a corrupted NTFS volume can all generate this type of error.

Kindly follow the below methods and check if it resolves the issue.

Method 1:

I suggest you to check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode with Networking. Follow the below steps:

Step 1:

To start Windows 10 in safe mode:

  1. Press Windows + I keys on the keyboard to access settings menu.
  2. Select Update & security and click on Recovery.
  3. Go to Advanced startup and select Restart now.
  4. After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot Advanced options > Startup Settings >Restart.
  5. After your PC restarts, select a startup setting as Safe Mode with Networking by pressing the corresponding number.

If the issue does not persists in Safe Mode with Networking, then perform a Clean Boot to check if any third party application is causing the issue, as Clean Boot helps in eliminating software conflicts.

Step 2:

Put the computer in Clean Boot and check if it helps. By setting your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue.
How to perform a Clean Boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

The steps for Windows 8.1 applies well to Windows 10 also.

Note: After Clean Boot troubleshooting step, refer to “How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with Clean Boot” from the above article.

Method 2:

I suggest you to update the drivers in Windows 10. Refer to the following article and update all the drivers available in Windows 10.

How to: Install and Update drivers in Windows 10

I hope the above information helps. Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance with Windows. We are glad to assist you.

Thank you.
